Hey friends, I’m Rebecca Butcher—a South Carolina girl through and through. I was raised on the sweetest tea courtesy of my Grandma Lottie and the kind of storytelling that makes you feel right at home from my Papa’s peach farm to my Daddy’s Bible lessons. Since getting married over 20 years ago, I call home a little piece of paradise in the country in Chapin with my family, where we gather eggs from our chickens, homeschool our kids, and embrace the beauty of simple, intentional living.
With a degree in English from the University of South Carolina and years of writing and photographing, I’ve spent my life capturing the heart of The South and sharing stories that matter.
Now, I pour that same love into The Palmetto Pulse—a place where Southern charm meets practical wisdom, helping y’all create homes and lives filled with warmth, meaning, and a little bit of magic.
I’m so glad you’re here- where we seek what matters and share what lasts.

Greetings friends! I’m Mike Skiff and while I originally hail from Washington State, I adopted South Carolina as my 'second home' after being stationed at Fort Jackson for 4 years as an Active Duty Army Officer.
My wife Malynda and I started our family while living in Columbia and as an Army Reserves Officer, I travel to Columbia a few times a year to serve with my Unit on Fort Jackson.
I left Active Duty in 2015 to start and grow a small business in my local community, and I've been in the local media publishing space ever since. I've owned and published several print magazines, along with a few online publications as well. I've been helping local businesses reach their ideal customers for well over a decade, and I absolutely love helping them get exposure as a trusted brand in the communities they serve.
I'm excited to be a part of bringing this great resource to your inbox each week and can't wait to introduce you to the amazing local businesses in our lovely Midlands community!
